The closest airport is Heraklion Airport (HER), approximately a 40–45 minute drive south. Airlines serving the route include Aegean, Ryanair, and easyJet with direct flights from many European cities.
We recommend renting a car at the airport to explore Crete freely during your stay. The drive to Zaros follows a scenic route through the Cretan countryside.
By Sea
You can also reach Crete by ferry from Athens (Piraeus port) to Heraklion. The overnight ferry is a beautiful way to arrive, with views of the Aegean islands at sunrise. Check schedules on Ferries.gr.
